Emergence 2017
Émergence 2017

Opening Reception - Wednesday April 12, 2017

April 12  – May 14, 2017

The Emergence exhibition represents a cross-section of artistic development from grades 9 through 12 in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography and mixed media. Whether intuitive, expressive or conceptual, these works speak of the process of growth, exploration, maturation and the artistic nurturing of the soul.

Over 200 pieces of original art were submitted to the Art Gallery of Sudbury.  Those entries were later judged by a selection committee made up of three prominent local artists and arts educators: Mary-Anne Secord, Bill Whittaker, and Mariana Lafrance. Selection was based on the artist’s use of materials; application of artistic elements and design principles; and creativity and originality.
